I was thinking about planning today.
For me, a big part of my success in my working life is making a schedule and sticking to it.
I do a big planning day on Monday morning where I schedule all the work I plan to do for the week.
I input all the client work I'll do each day, and then set gaps for meetings, time to work on my own business, and finally for training.
Then each evening, I look at the following day and see if there needs to be any changes to the schedule I set myself on the Monday.
This way, I simply wake up, look at my calendar and do what I said I'd do.
Pretty simple and it works.
A bit of self-discipline goes a long way and you'll be more productive than ever before.
QUARANTINE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE
There's no interruption to the current work I'm doing for clients, nor for any new work I'm taking on. Which, when you consider the circumstances, is quite remarkable.
I'm in a hotel room for half a month. Nothing in, nothing out, except food.
That's one of the perks of running my business from a laptop, a phone, a notepad, and a pen.
'The show must go on,' as some circus ringmaster once said.
AN OPPORTUNITY
The shift towards working from home, or 'WFH' as people are tagging on all their photos and videos at the moment, is sweeping the world.
About time.
There really isn't any reason you need to be in an office, for most jobs, full time. Especially office jobs.
I've seen some people bandy on about reasons such as being able to check in on employees, or to quickly ask questions to collaborate and so on.
But, these 'reasons' sound like excuses to cover up bad management and poor organisation to me. I've yet to hear of a good reason why people need to be working in a centralised location full time instead of remotely if you work in most traditional office jobs - but I'm all ears if you've got some.
What I see from this change is that employers will become more open to hiring remote workers, freelancers, agencies, consultants, contractors and so on.
They'll realise that it's possible to work just as productively, if not more productively, remotely.
Which means there's an opportunity here for many of the business owners, consultants, agencies, and freelancers on my newsletter list to get new clients in your area of expertise.
Why?
Because many of these businesses have only ever considered hiring a new employee. They never thought someone could do the work remotely.
Now they're seeing it's possible.
It's a complete mindset shift that wasn't available to you previously.
That's your angle.
GET A WRIGGLE ON
If you don't have an outbound marketing strategy for reaching traditionally 'offline' businesses this way, now is the time to get started.
I've got a couple of ideas that I know already work up my sleeve, if you're looking to get a campaign whipped up...
... this isn't for small offers either, I'm talking about $35k - $60k offers being closed with 'real' businesses.
In fact, I was working with a business partner launching deals like this every quarter.
And if we'd have put more focus into it at the time, we likely could've closed just as many people weekly.
But, this was before COVID-19 hit, and our priorities were a little different back then...
Anyway, I hope everyone is keeping safe and productive during all this.
